  • Cook Pasta in Chicken Stock: This boosts the flavor and prevents bland mac & cheese

  • Don’t Overcook the Pasta: Keep it al dente so it doesn’t get mushy after baking

  • Layer for Maximum Creaminess: Alternating pasta, cheese, and custard ensures an even, gooey texture

  • Let It Rest Before Serving: Allowing it to cool for 15 minutes helps it set and makes slicing easier

Mac & Cheese Recipe

Prep: 15 mins | Cook Time: 45 mins | Serves: 12

Ingredients:

  • 32 oz. chicken stock

  • 3 1/2 c. large elbow pasta

  • 1 stick butter

  • 16 oz. block sharp cheese, shredded

  • 16 oz. block monetary jack, shredded

  • 16 oz. block Havarti cheese, shredded

  • 16 oz. mozzarella cheese, shredded

  • 3/4 c. sour cream

  • 1 tsp. onion powder

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 2 c. milk

  • 1 1/2 c. heavy cream

  • 3 large eggs

Let's Get Started!

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish and set aside.

2. Cook the elbow macaroni in the chicken stock until al dente (about 6-7 minutes). While macaroni is cooking, use a grater to hand shred all the cheese into a large bowl. Set aside. Strain water from the cooked macaroni, then transfer into a very large bowl. Add butter, 1 cup of cheese, sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder and salt. Gently stir to combine.

3. Custard: In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, and eggs. Layer evenly in the baking dish: 2 cups of macaroni, 2 cups of cheese, and 1 cup of the custard mixture. *Continue the layering process until all of ingredients are used.

4. Evenly sprinkle the top of the macaroni and cheese with the remaining cheese.

5. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.
