Updated: Oct 26

Craving tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs but short on time? This easy, make-ahead recipe brings delicious barbecue flavors to your table with minimal effort.

Why You'll Love This Oven-Baked Baby Back Ribs Recipe

  • Quick Prep Time: The dry rub comes together in minutes, making it easy for busy people to prepare the ribs quickly

  • Make-Ahead Option: Marinate the ribs overnight to save time the next day, so all you have to do is pop them in the oven

  • Hands-Off Cooking: Once the ribs are in the oven, you have 90 minutes of free time to tackle other tasks or relax!

  • Minimal Cleanup: Wrapping the ribs in foil means less mess, saving precious time on dishwashing

  • Perfect for Meal Prep: Make a large batch and store leftovers for a quick, reheatable meal during the week

Cooking Tips and Tricks

  • Wrapping the ribs tightly in foil helps to lock in moisture. Let them rest for a few minutes after cooking to absorb flavors

  • To check for doneness, look for the meat pulling away from the bone easily—this indicates it's tender and ready

  • Avoid common mistakes like overcooking (which dries out the meat) or under-seasoning by generously applying the rub and sauce

Oven-Baked Baby Back Ribs Recipe

Prep Time: 10 mins. | Cook Time: 2 hrs. | Servings: 6

Ingredients:

Pork Ribs Ingredients

  • 2 slabs baby back pork ribs

  • 1 c. barbecue sauce

Dry Rub Ingredients

  • 1/2 c light brown sugar

  • 1 tsp. cumin

  • 1 tsp. chili powder

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

  • 1 tsp. season salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Let's Get Started!

1. Combine all dry rub ingredients in a small bowl. Generously sprinkle the dry rub all over both sides of the ribs and rub it in until well coated. For maximum flavor, let the meat marinate in the refrigerator with the rub for one hour or overnight.

2. Let refrigerated ribs sit out 30 minute to become room temperature. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees when ready to bake. Wrap the rib slabs securely in heavy duty aluminum foil, then place on a baking sheet. Bake the ribs for 90 minutes or until meat starts to pull away from the bone and is tender.

3. When ribs are done, cover with barbecue sauce, turn on the broiler and let ribs cook for a minute or so to help the sauce caramelize. Slice ribs between the bones and serve with additional barbeque sauce.

Jazz It Up!

  • Spice Level: Adjust the chili powder for more heat or add cayenne for an extra kick

  • Sweetness: Swap the light brown sugar for honey or a sugar substitute for different levels of sweetness and flavor profiles

  • Sauce Variety: Experiment with different barbecue sauces (smoky, spicy, or sweet) to change up the taste
