Cooking Tips & Tricks

  • Let it marinate before serving: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or several hours if possible) so the flavors have time to blend together.

  • Drain and rinse canned ingredients well: This removes excess liquid and helps prevent the cowboy caviar from becoming watery.

  • Dice ingredients evenly: Keeping the vegetables and beans similar in size makes every bite flavorful and easier to scoop with chips.

  • Add delicate ingredients last: If using avocado, fresh herbs, or other soft ingredients, stir them in right before serving to maintain the best texture.

  • Adjust seasoning after chilling: Cold temperatures can slightly mute flavors, so taste and add more lime juice, salt, or spices before serving.
