Buttermilk Waffles Recipe

Use this recipe for a delicious waffle breakfast or with the chicken/waffles recipe 


Ingredients:

  • 2 c. all- purpose flour

  • 2 T. sugar

  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

  • 2 eggs, separated

  • 2 c. buttermilk

  • 6 T. salted butter, melted

  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract


Let's Get Started!

*Preheat oven to 200 degrees

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.Next whisk in egg yolks, buttermilk, melted butter and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients.

  2. In a separate bowl, beat remaining egg whites until stiff peaks form.Gently fold the stiff egg whites into the batter.

  3. Heat waffle iron, grease with oil then prepare waffles according to manufacturer's instructions.*Keep waffles warn in a preheated oven while you prepare the fried chicken (see fried chicken recipe).

  4. Assemble the Chicken and Waffles: Top the waffles with butter and allow it to melt (optional). *Layer each waffle with a piece of fried chicken, then drizzle with maple syrup or hot honey.
